Chicken Pizza

Introduction

Pizza is a world-popular dish of Italian origin, made with an oven-baked, flat, generally round bread that is often covered with tomatoes or a tomato-based sauce and cheese. Other toppings are added according to region, culture, or personal preference (Ref: Wiki).

I believe everyone loves pizza. You will love it even more when you cook it yourself - from scratch. Today, I will share my experience of making chicken pizza.

Ingredients

You need following ingredients to make ~10 inch pizza.

  • 175g of plain white flour
  • 1 tea spoon of yeast
  • 1 tea spoon of sugar
  • 1 tea spoon of salt
  • 1 table spoon of oil
  • 125 ml of warm water
  • 1 medium sized chicken breast
  • 1 chopped tomato
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 chopped garlic clove
  • Half (green) paprika chopped
  • 75g mozzarella sliced
  • 3-4 olives chopped
  • tomato sauce (I used readymade sauce)

The Process

Preparing dough

Take the flour in a bowl and add sugar, salt and yeast. Mix it well with a wooden spoon. Now, add olive oil and warm water and mix thoroughly. Knead the dough with your hand until it becomes a smooth ball. Now, cover the bowl containing the dough with a cling film. Leave the dough for 2 hours, by then dough will reach nearly double of its original size. After two hours, you are ready to proceed further. Now using your rolling pin, make a circle of around 10 inches from the dough.

Preparing chicken

Cut the chicken breast into small cubes and fry over a medium heat. You can add any spices (masalas) you prefer along with onions and tomato. I used chicken masala, a pinch of turmeric, cumin seeds, cumin powder and coriander powder. Add salt and pepper to taste. If you like, you can add a little soy sauce too. Feel free to improvise; the bottom-line being that the chicken must taste great for the pizza to be tasty!

Baking

Pre-heat the oven for 10 minutes at 250 °C. Then place the circular dough on baking paper or baking tray. Spread a layer of tomato sauce over the dough. Then place half of the cheese over the sauce. Add the cooked chicken, along with onion, paprika, olives, tomato. Again, add the remaining mozzarella on the top and bake the pizza in oven for about 15 minutes. You can check the base of the pizza using a spatula, if it is brown then your pizza is cooked. The cheese would have melted by then.
The pizza is ready to be eaten!

My pizza was very tasty, it was the best one I had ever had. So share your experience too. I will post some other recipes soon! Guten appetit and enjoy your pizza!
